Swedish astronaut, Marcus Wandt, is set to embark on a journey to the International Space Station (ISS) from Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 23.11 tonight.
Wandt, along with three other astronauts, will lift-off aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
The crew is expected to carry out about 30 experiments during their two-week stay at the ISS, including studies on the impact of space travel on the development of space sickness and the influence of microgravity on stem cells.
Wandt is also participating in a research project by the Royal Institute of Technology that examines the effects of long-term confinement in cramped spaces on physical and mental health.
The crew has been in quarantine for the past two weeks to prevent any potential transmission of infections to the ISS crew whose immune systems can be compromised due to prolonged exposure to microgravity.
