The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued yellow warnings for heavy rain and thunderstorms across parts of Sweden this weekend.

The warnings affect areas from Karlstad to Östersund and from Malmö to Uddevalla.

Up to 40 millimeters of rain may fall in a short period, risking flooding in basements, streets, and underpasses.

Electrical disruptions and train delays are also possible due to lightning.

SMHI acknowledges forecasting challenges and the potential for missed warnings, highlighting the unpredictability of thunderstorm events.
