Swedish train operator SJ has announced the resumption of night train services between Stockholm and Narvik starting Monday, following an improvement in weather conditions.
The services were suspended over the weekend due to extreme cold, with temperatures dropping below -30°C in northern Sweden.
The decision to halt operations was made for safety reasons, as evacuation in remote areas like Kiruna and Narvik is challenging.
While SJ's night trains are set to run again, other routes in northern Sweden, including Umeå–Luleå and Luleå–Kiruna, remain suspended until Monday evening.
The disruptions highlight the challenges of operating in harsh winter conditions in remote regions.
