E45 north of Lilla Edet is set to reopen today around lunchtime after severe rain caused significant damage to the road.
The southbound lane will be opened for two-way traffic, albeit with reduced speed limits.
Felicia Danielsson from Trafikverket confirmed that the road was inspected and found to be mostly intact, but the northbound lane remains closed as assessments continue.
The heavy rainfall on Sunday led to the displacement of insulation materials under the road, creating hazardous conditions.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although around 30 vehicles were stranded in the floodwaters.
Traffic officials are hopeful that full access will be restored soon, but the timeline for the northbound lane remains uncertain.
