In a significant development, the E6 highway near Stenungsund, which was severely damaged by a landslide in September 2023, is set to reopen earlier than initially anticipated.

Thanks to the rapid progress in foundational work within the affected landslide area, the Swedish Transport Administration has revised its schedule, announcing that the road will be accessible again by summer 2024, ahead of the previous year-end forecast.

This early reopening is poised to alleviate the heavy traffic burden that has been redirected to roads 650 and E45 since the disaster.

The full restoration of the E6 is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The swift reconstruction efforts reflect the high priority placed on restoring this critical transport link.
