Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has hinted that Turkey may be moving closer to accepting Sweden's NATO membership, following positive discussions with the US.
Despite Turkey's long-standing desire to purchase F-16 fighter jets from the US, the deal has been repeatedly delayed.
However, Erdogan suggested that the sale of the jets and Sweden's NATO membership could be linked to facilitate a smoother process.
The Swedish application has not yet been ratified in Turkey and Hungary, the two countries that continue to block Sweden's NATO membership.
The Turkish parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee is set to discuss Sweden's NATO application next week.
