Sweden Faces Heatwave Followed by Thunderstorms

Published: 2024-05-23

Sweden is experiencing unusually high summer temperatures, with records being challenged in cities like Gothenburg.

However, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued thunderstorm warnings for several counties as clouds begin moving in from the south.

Meteorologists predict that the risk of thunderstorms is highest throughout today and tonight, accompanied by a dramatic drop in temperatures—falling from 30 degrees to around 15 degrees Celsius.

While some stability is expected over the weekend, new rainfall is anticipated next week.
