Sweden Braces for Heatwave Amid Fire Risks

Published: 2024-06-25

Sweden is bracing for a heatwave with temperatures expected to soar between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius this week.

The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) warns that the high temperatures could impact the health of vulnerable groups such as the elderly and the sick.

Additionally, the dry and hot weather has raised concerns over potential fire risks in various regions, notably in northeast Götaland, Svealand, and southeast Norrland.

People are urged to be cautious with outdoor fires and machinery during this period.

Cooler temperatures are anticipated to return by the weekend.
