Sweden Braces for Stormy Weather Shift

Published: 2024-08-23

Sweden is bracing for a significant weather shift as a cold front moves in, disrupting the recent sunny summer days.

According to the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), this change will bring thunderstorms and heavy rain, particularly affecting western Götaland.

Meteorologist Marie Staerk warns of substantial rainfall and thunderstorms, with temperatures dropping significantly in northern Norrland.

Despite the stormy weather, eastern Sweden might still experience temperatures nearing 30 degrees before cooler air arrives.

The weekend promises more showers, but a high-pressure system could bring warmer weather back by Monday.

Meteorologist Lasse Rydqvist notes that while the low-pressure system will pass quickly, northern Norrland will experience prolonged rain.

Overall, the weather is expected to stabilize over the weekend, with temperatures ranging from 17 to 22 degrees across the country.
