Sweden is currently facing severe weather conditions, with powerful snowstorms and freezing temperatures affecting various parts of the country.
In southern Sweden, heavy snowfall and strong winds are expected, with the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) issuing warnings for several regions including Skåne, Blekinge, and southern Kalmar.
The storms are associated with a deep low-pressure system from Denmark, which is expected to bring significant snowfall, particularly in Skåne and Blekinge.
Public services such as Stena Line have cancelled departures, and an increased risk of high water flows and power outages is anticipated.
Rescue services have increased staffing in preparation for the weather event.
Meanwhile, icy temperatures persist in the north, with the coldest January temperature in 25 years recorded in Kvikkjokk, Norrbotten, reaching -43.6 degrees Celsius.
These extreme temperatures are expected to continue in the coming days.
