Six Swedish citizens have successfully left Gaza for the first time since May 2024, with assistance from the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
They crossed into Egypt via the Kerem Shalom border crossing, which had been closed since last year.
This marks a significant development as the region remains embroiled in conflict following Hamas' attack on Israel in October 2023. While around 600 Swedes have left Gaza since the war began, an estimated 50 Swedish nationals are still in the area.
The Ministry is also conducting consular operations at the West Bank-Jordan border, though details remain unclear.
