The Swedish government has announced an extension of the temporary border controls within the country until November 11, citing a persistent serious threat to public order and internal security.
This decision is influenced by the current terror threat level, which remains at level four on a five-point scale, and the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The border controls, initially set to expire on May 12, are now extended to manage risks associated with identifying individuals who may pose a security threat to Sweden.
Similar measures have been adopted by other European countries such as Germany, Austria, Norway, and Denmark.
The government describes these controls as the "only available measure" to safeguard against potential threats.
