The Swedish government has announced an additional humanitarian aid package of 40 million kronor for Gaza, aimed at supporting children through the harsh winter months.
The funds, directed to UNICEF, will provide essential supplies such as clothing, shoes, shelter, education, and psychosocial support.
Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Benjamin Dousa, emphasized the dire conditions children face in the war-torn region, worsened by winter's cold and rain.
During a visit to the Gaza border, Dousa described the stories he heard as some of the most harrowing of his life.
Since October 2023, Sweden has contributed over 630 million kronor in targeted humanitarian aid to Gaza.
