The Sida executive, detained in May on serious bribery charges, has been released from custody, according to the Swedish Prosecution Authority.
Despite his release, allegations of grave misconduct, including gross breach of trust and major fraud, both in an African nation and Sweden, remain.
The crimes allegedly took place between 2021 and 2023, involving nearly one billion kronor in aid.
Chief Prosecutor Thomas Forsberg highlighted that continuing his detention was deemed disproportionate.
The executive is prohibited from leaving Sweden due to a travel ban.
