Swedish businessman Leif-Ivan Karlsson, aged 63, has been released from custody, although suspicions of economic crimes against him remain.
The accusations involve serious bookkeeping offenses, grave dishonesty towards creditors, and severely complicating bankruptcy, primarily related to his management of the vessel Baltic Star.
Prosecutor Maximillian Berg Molin from the Economic Crimes Authority stated the investigation is now "robust," allowing Karlsson's release as he no longer poses a risk to the ongoing investigation.
Previously, Karlsson was also implicated in a scandal involving the waste management company Think Pink, facing charges of environmental and severe bookkeeping crimes.
The decision comes two weeks after Karlsson's detention, highlighting the intricate nature of economic crime investigations.
