The number of prosecutions for bribery offenses in Sweden has reached an all-time high, according to a report from the Institute Against Bribery (IMM).
Last year, 96 charges related to 34 cases were brought before Swedish courts, marking a three-year consecutive increase.
The transport and vehicle sector is particularly affected, with over 30 percent of cases involving bribes within this industry.
Parul Sharma, the acting general secretary of IMM, highlighted the worrying trend of younger individuals getting involved in bribery, with the majority of those convicted aged between 20 and 39. The surge in cases signals a growing awareness of corruption issues, yet there remains a significant underreporting problem.
