Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in parts of Sweden, particularly affecting the Götaland region.

On the E4 highway near Jönköping, several cars were submerged in 1.5 meters of water, leading to evacuations and road closures.

The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) issued a yellow warning for torrential rain, which is expected to continue until 11 PM.

The flooding has also impacted train services, with cancellations reported on routes between Gothenburg-Strömstad and Gothenburg-Örebro.

In the aftermath, insurance companies are investigating nearly 600 damage claims in Jönköping County alone.

The rising water levels in Lake Vättern are complicating efforts to manage the flood, with officials warning it could take weeks or even months for water levels to return to normal.
