In a series of coordinated raids in Tyresö, south of Stockholm, Swedish Security Service (Säpo) arrested four men suspected of preparing for terrorist activities and serious weapons crimes.
These actions are linked to violent extremist Islamism with international connections, including ties to the Islamic State (IS) in Somalia.
Following the operation, the Swedish Muslim Federation has ceased funding to an Islamic association in Tyresö, which received nearly half a million SEK in state grants since 2016, pending further investigation.
The incident has triggered a wider examination by authorities into the funding and activities of religious organizations, highlighting concerns over potential misuse for extremist purposes.
