This year's EU election saw a record number of early votes in Sweden, with two million voters participating ahead of Election Day.
This figure accounts for 47% of the total votes, a significant increase compared to the 2019 election.
The most popular day for early voting was June 7, the day after National Day, with Nordstan in Gothenburg receiving the highest number of votes at around 26,000. "We are pleased to see more voters choosing to vote early," said Anna Nyqvist, Chief of Operations at the Election Authority.
The uptick in early voting highlights a trend towards reducing queues and improving voter turnout for future elections, including the national elections in 2026.
