Preliminary figures indicate the lowest voter turnout in the EU elections since 2009. This marks the first decline in participation over 20 years.
Voters in the Stockholm area were the most active.
Political scientist Richard Öhrvall noted that the timing of the elections, in early June rather than late May, might have contributed to this decrease.
Despite this, Sweden gained one more mandate this year.
