Early voting for the EU Parliament election has begun in Sweden, with over 7.9 million eligible voters, including over 572,000 first-time voters.
Voting locations in every municipality will be open until the election day on June 9. This year, Sweden will elect 21 members, one more than in the 2019 election due to Brexit.
Experts are concerned that the election date, falling in a potential long weekend, might impact voter turnout.
However, the current geopolitical climate and strong support for EU membership could encourage higher participation.
