In Sundsvall, a police investigation into a domestic disturbance early Sunday evening resulted in an officer shooting and wounding a man in his thirties who was behaving violently.
The police patrol responded to the disturbance call and deemed the situation sufficiently threatening to open fire on the man, as reported by the officer in charge, Henrik Fahlén.
The injured man received immediate medical attention at the scene and was then transported to the hospital, where he was reported to be alive.
He has been arrested and is suspected of attempting violence against an officer, a serious offense.
Following the incident, a special investigation into possible misconduct by the police has been initiated, led by the special prosecutor's office.
