In a tumultuous incident in Jönköping, Sweden, a police officer has been critically injured, sustaining life-threatening injuries.

The police were initially called to a residential area due to reports of a man in his mid-thirties behaving erratically and brandishing a sharp object.

During the confrontation, the man attacked the officer, causing another officer to discharge his service weapon, wounding the attacker.

Both the officer and the suspect have been taken to the hospital and are reported to be conscious and able to speak.
