In an unusual turn of events, a police investigation in Malmö was shut down due to technical difficulties in accessing a USB drive containing critical information about thefts of anesthesia devices at Skåne University Hospital.

Despite the potential leads on the USB, the police were unable to open the word document it contained, leading to the eventual cessation of the inquiry.

This has sparked criticism from various quarters, including the chairman of the Crime Unit, who found the situation inconceivable.

Further, the police admitted to a lack of effort in contacting the individual listed as a contact on the device, acknowledging that their documentation and follow-up were insufficient.
