Henrik Landerholm, Sweden's former national security advisor, faces charges of negligence after leaving classified documents at a course center in 2023. The incident, which occurred during a critical NATO negotiation period, has drawn sharp criticism from Säpo, Sweden's security police, for the Regeringskansli's mishandling of the case.
The documents, found by a cleaner allegedly linked to extremist circles, were left unsecured for two nights before being retrieved.
Adding to the controversy, Landerholm reportedly misunderstood the "H" marking on the documents, thinking it might stand for his name rather than "Hemligt" (Secret).
Säpo's investigation revealed delays and inaccuracies in the Regeringskansli's internal report, with no clear answers on the documents' current whereabouts.
While the situation underscores serious security lapses, it has also sparked humor, with some seeing it as a farcical reflection of bureaucratic missteps.
