Johan Lindholm has been elected as the new chairman of Sweden's LO (Swedish Trade Union Confederation) after Pim van Dorpel withdrew his candidacy for personal reasons.
Lindholm, previously seen as too radical and combative, received unanimous support from the LO congress.
He has pledged to make LO more vocal in public debates and to fight for the rights of workers, including the removal of the controversial sick leave policy.
Lindholm's speech, which emphasized equality and the daily struggles of LO members, received a standing ovation.
His leadership is expected to bring significant changes to the organization.
