The Swedish Customs Service is intensifying its efforts to combat smuggling through small boat harbors in southern Sweden, following significant drug seizures in Helsingborg's port.
As part of their strategy, they are seeking the cooperation of the boating community, urging them to report suspicious activities such as unlit boats at night or unusual transfers of goods between vessels.
Customs officials plan to visit around 60 marinas during spring and summer to provide tips on what to look out for and encourage vigilance among boat owners and marina operators.
They believe that drug smuggling into these harbors could escalate, employing methods like "ant traffic" from Denmark or dropping drugs from large cargo ships to be picked up by smaller boats.
