In a record-breaking operation within the first four months of 2024, Swedish customs officials have seized nearly 3.7 million narcotic pills, surpassing the total amount confiscated throughout 2023. A significant portion of these drugs were discovered in January when a smuggling ring involving nearly two million narcotic tablets produced in Serbia was uncovered in Gothenburg.
Three men have since been charged with extremely serious drug smuggling and drug offenses.
This surge in seizures highlights a concerning trend of organized drug smuggling from Serbia to Sweden, emphasizing the critical role of customs in intercepting these illicit activities.
