Dockworker Among Three Jailed in Major Cocaine Bust

Published: 2024-04-23

In a significant operation at Helsingborg's port, three men have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in a cocaine smuggling ring, with the drugs valued at 175 million kronor.

Among the convicted is a dockworker who had been employed at the port for 30 years, highlighting the challenges of internal complicity in smuggling operations.

The smuggling plans, which included the use of the encrypted communication service Sky ECC, were foiled when authorities replaced the real cocaine with fake drugs prior to its arrival in Sweden.

This bust is part of broader efforts to combat the influx of narcotics through Helsingborg, identified as a key entry point for drugs into the country.

The total seizure involved 195 kilograms of cocaine in both Sweden and the Netherlands.
