The Administrative Court has overturned Region Blekinge's decision to impose interpreter fees for medical visits, citing a lack of legal support for such charges.
The decision, initially made in February, faced significant opposition from local residents and professionals, including an open letter from 190 doctors.
The court ruled that interpreter fees do not qualify as healthcare charges under current legislation.
Civil Rights Defenders, an international organization, also challenged the decision, emphasizing human rights concerns.
The ruling is seen as a victory for those opposing the fees and may influence other regions considering similar measures.
