A tragic snowmobile accident north of Umeå has claimed the life of a man in his 50s.

The accident occurred on Sunday morning, with the police being notified around 11 AM.

Despite efforts by rescue teams, including the use of snowmobiles, a tracked vehicle, and an attempted intervention by an air ambulance that couldn't land due to the terrain, the man succumbed to his injuries after colliding with a tree.

Authorities have confirmed that the incident was an accident, with no suspicion of criminal activity involved.

The victim's family has been notified of the unfortunate event.
