A tragic incident occurred on Sunday when a 12-year-old boy and his 29-year-old stepfather drowned in the Pite River near Selholmens camping site in Älvsbyn.
The two went for a swim around 11 AM but were reported missing shortly after.
A large search operation was launched, involving helicopters, divers, and volunteers.
Unfortunately, both were found dead later that night, with authorities stating that strong currents in the river may have contributed to the tragedy.
The family has been notified of their deaths, and police are reminding the public about the dangers of swimming in fast-moving waters, especially after recent heavy rainfall.
