Sweden has been asked to pause its plans to send Jas Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine, according to Defense Minister Pål Jonson.
The decision follows intense discussions with other members of the air defense coalition aiding Ukraine, which include Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway, all of whom have pledged F-16 planes.
The first F-16s are expected to be delivered this year, postponing any immediate need for Gripen jets.
Opposition parties in Sweden have urged the government to send Gripen jets to Ukraine immediately, citing the urgent security situation.
However, Jonson highlighted the complexities involved, such as training pilots and providing necessary support infrastructure.
