The Swedish government is considering changes to the Public Order Act to stop Quran burnings in the interest of national security.
A government investigator, Mattias Larsson, has suggested several proposals allowing police to refuse demonstration permits if there is a significant security threat.
This comes after last year's violent protests in response to Quran burnings, which heightened terror threats and led to attacks on Swedish embassies abroad.
The proposed changes, aimed at balancing security concerns and freedom of speech, are expected to be implemented by July 2025, pending feedback from authorities and organizations.
