A suspected dangerous object was found early Friday morning in the Nya Hovås neighborhood of Gothenburg, sparking a large police operation.

The object, discovered by a civilian before 8:30 am outside a residential building, was deemed sharp by the National Bomb Squad and subsequently handled, rendering it no longer dangerous.

Police have cordoned off a significant area and advised locals to stay indoors while a crime scene investigation is underway.

The area's restrictions are expected to narrow down to the immediate vicinity of the discovered object.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident as an attempted act of public endangerment.
