Severe Weather Alert for Swedish Regions

Published: 2024-08-24

A severe weather warning has been issued for parts of Bohuslän, Dalsland, and western Värmland due to expected heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has classified the warning as yellow, indicating potential disruptions.

The rain, driven by a low-pressure system moving in from the southwest, is expected to bring 30-50 millimeters of precipitation in a short period, posing risks of flooding in basements, roads, and drainage systems.

The warning is in effect from 11 PM to 4 AM in Bohuslän and Dalsland, and from midnight to 6 AM in western Värmland.

Residents are advised to prepare for possible traffic disruptions and water accumulation in low-lying areas.

This weather event follows a series of severe weather incidents across Europe, highlighting the increasing frequency of extreme weather conditions.
