A severe thunderstorm has hit western Sweden, with 214 lightning strikes recorded in Västra Götaland in just one hour on Tuesday evening, according to Expressen.

SMHI has issued warnings for Västra Götaland and Värmland, highlighting risks of heavy rain, strong winds, and potential flooding.

Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid open fields and tall trees.

The storm has led to power outages in Sotnäs and small fires in Uddevalla and Bengtsfors, which have been contained by emergency services.

The unsettled weather is caused by warm air, with similar conditions expected in parts of Sweden over the coming days.
