On Sunday, parts of the roof collapsed at Lillänge shopping center and Intersport in Östersund, injuring three people.

As emergency services, including mountain rescuers and specially trained dogs, searched the snow-filled interiors for additional victims, the community was left in shock.

The incident, which saw an area of approximately 20x35 meters cave in, prompted a large-scale response from first responders and a pause in search efforts due to potential further collapses.

A preliminary investigation into workplace safety violations and causing bodily harm has been launched.

Authorities urge property owners to take heavy snowfall seriously to prevent similar tragedies.
