Rickard Eriksson, the chairman of the Moderate Party in Gothenburg, has resigned from all political posts effective immediately, amid allegations of inappropriate behavior during the party's national meeting in Stockholm.
The incident, which reportedly took place at an afterparty during the weekend, led to Eriksson stepping down following the party's internal procedures for conduct expected of elected officials.
Despite the allegations, Eriksson cited personal reasons for his departure but did not elaborate further.
The Moderate Party's website has already removed Eriksson's name, with Margareta Broang stepping in as the acting chairperson for the Gothenburg chapter.
