A Malmö-based lawyer, Soheil Naderi, has been sentenced to five and a half years in prison for a series of frauds, including deceiving elderly clients into bequeathing their fortunes to him.
The conviction covers 25 different charges, including severe cases of embezzlement and gross accounting fraud from activities spanning 2018 to 2022. Naderi, who consistently denied any wrongdoing, was also ordered to pay over 2.5 million kronor in damages and received a seven-year ban from conducting business.
The case, which highlighted his exploitation of vulnerable seniors by encouraging them to sign over their assets, was brought to light following an investigation by SVT Nyheter Skåne into his legal practice in Malmö and Stockholm.
