A 65-year-old man from Eksjö has been detained on charges of severely assaulting a female lawyer in a staircase in Norrköping, related to her work as an estate administrator in an ongoing inheritance dispute.

The attack, which left the lawyer with serious injuries described as irreversible, happened around midnight last Friday.

The suspect was ordered by Norrköping District Court to undergo a psychological evaluation to determine if the crime was committed during a severe mental disorder, after admitting to assault of a normal degree.

Senior prosecutor Christina Hildebrand indicated that the evidence is strong, citing witnesses and comprehensive documentation of injuries.

The incident has sparked outrage among legal professionals, emphasizing the vulnerability of lawyers in their line of work.
