Five individuals have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in a notorious "dine and dash" incident at the Atmosfär restaurant in Malmö, where a group of 35 people racked up a bill of over 82,000 kronor on Christmas Day 2023 without paying.

The main suspects, including a 43-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, received sentences of two years each, while others received varying terms for their roles in a broader scheme of fraud involving multiple establishments.

The group allegedly created a non-profit organization to justify their extravagant dining and spending, claiming to help needy families, but instead used it for personal luxuries.

The total value of the frauds, which spanned from August 2022 to March 2024, exceeds one million kronor.

The court described the actions as systematic and professional, leading to convictions for serious fraud and other related crimes.
