Ljungby Hospital will retain its emergency department, a decision welcomed by local leaders and residents.
Magnus Gunnarsson, Ljungby’s municipal council chair, praised the move, emphasizing the importance of local management for better community healthcare.
This comes after significant public support, including a 4,000-person demonstration earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Region Kronoberg plans to centralize all intensive care units in Växjö.
Additionally, discussions have resumed about building a new hospital in Räppe, Växjö, or renovating the existing one.
The region aims to evaluate both options to ensure efficient use of resources, despite past setbacks in Räppe plans.
