In a harrowing incident in Rågsved, southern Stockholm, a man in his 20s has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a former friend at a fast-food restaurant, as well as for the attempted murder of nine other individuals, two of whom were injured by gunfire.

The attack occurred near a preschool on May 17, where the assailant began shooting at a group of young men, leaving one paralyzed from the waist down after being hit in the back.

The convicted man pursued the survivors into the fast-food outlet, where he fatally shot one of them multiple times in the upper body.

Both the perpetrator and the victim were previously known to be friends, with the motives behind the tragic turn of events remaining unclear.

The shooter was apprehended hours after the incident and has been in custody since.
