The Left Party (Vänsterpartiet) has seen significant gains in the recent EU elections, increasing their vote share by around 4 percentage points compared to 2019. Their top candidate, Jonas Sjöstedt, is making a comeback in the European Parliament, and the party is poised for its best result in 20 years with 10.7% of the votes.
According to party leader Nooshi Dadgostar, this success can be attributed to the party's strong stance on climate issues, which has resonated with voters.
The mood was celebratory at the party's election night event in Umeå, with many crediting Sjöstedt's leadership for the impressive performance.
