In the recent EU elections, the Left Party emerged as the biggest winner, capturing a mandate from the Christian Democrats.
Surprisingly, the smaller parties, like the Liberals and the Christian Democrats, managed to retain their positions, despite fears of losing their seats.
The Sweden Democrats saw a decline, particularly in their stronghold, Skåne, losing 2.1 percentage points.
Meanwhile, voter turnout dropped to 50.7%, down from 53.7% in 2019. Across Europe, right-wing nationalist parties made significant gains, with the National Rally in France poised to possibly become the largest single party in the European Parliament.
