Sjöstedt Tops Trust Survey Ahead of EU Election

Published: 2024-05-10

A recent trust survey conducted by Aftonbladet/Demoskop has placed Jonas Sjöstedt, the former leader of Sweden's Left Party, as both the most recognized and trusted top candidate ahead of the EU election on June 9. Despite his popularity, the Left Party struggles to convert this into votes, partly due to its historical stance on leaving the EU, a position it's now seeking to amend in its party program.

The survey, which included responses from 2,188 participants aged 18 to 79 during April 9-29, 2024, also highlights the challenges faced by other smaller parties like the Liberals and the Center Party, whose candidates are less known, impacting their electoral prospects.

Meanwhile, the Green Party aims to capitalize on environmental issues, presenting a well-known team including Alice Bah Kuhnke and Isabella Lövin, in a bid for a successful EU election outcome.
