Kalmar Bomb Scare Deemed Harmless

Published: 2024-08-26

On Sunday, a suspicious object found in Kalmar was deemed harmless after examination by the national bomb squad.

Initially alarming the public, the object was discovered to be a bomb replica, designed to mimic a real explosive device.

Karl Ljungqvist, acting local police chief, emphasized the seriousness of such incidents, noting the significant resources required and the disruption caused to public life.

The police are investigating the event as a false alarm and are seeking information from the public.

Despite recent events, authorities assure there is no cause for public concern and currently see no connection to organized crime.

The incident follows a similar event last Thursday, where a dangerous object was found in Kalmar, but no links between the incidents have been established.
