Ahmadreza Djalali, a Swedish-Iranian researcher imprisoned in Iran since 2016, was excluded from a recent prisoner exchange between Sweden and Iran.
His wife, Vida Mehrannia, criticized Sweden’s efforts as insufficient and protested that her family has been ignored for eight years.
Despite Sweden’s Foreign Minister Tobias Billström claiming that the government did everything possible, Iran refuses to recognize Djalali’s Swedish citizenship.
In contrast, Hamid Noury, an Iranian convicted of serious crimes in Sweden, was released to Iran where he openly acknowledged his identity as Hamid Abbasi.
The Iranian regime considers his release a significant victory.
