Heavy Snow Alert in Southern Sweden

Published: 2024-02-05

The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued a yellow warning for heavy snowfall expected to affect parts of southern Gotaland starting Monday evening.

The accumulation of wet snow may cause significant disruptions in traffic across northern Skane, southern Halland, Blekinge, and parts of southwestern Smaland.

The snowstorm is forecasted to bring 10-15 centimeters of snow, with higher amounts possible locally, lasting until Thursday evening.

Meteorologist Mattis Lind advises those planning to travel in the region to prepare for challenging conditions, especially on Tuesday morning.

Following the snowfall, a colder period is anticipated, with temperatures fluctuating between positive and negative degrees in southern Gotaland, while northern parts will consistently experience sub-zero temperatures.
